In todays article from car insurance news desk we are looking at the problem of uninsured drivers. To drive a motor vehicle on the roads of Britain you have to have adequate motor insurance cover that not only legally entitles you to drive that vehicle but also protects any other third party and their property in the event of an accident. Protection over an innocent third party takes precedent over you the policy holder an example is the third party only car insurance cover. If you have this type of cover you can legally drive that vehicle and it offers insurance protection to the third party and their property but not you or your motor car.

The problem of uninsured drivers had escalated over the past few decades with the growing number of drivers and vehicles congesting roads in the UK. This obviously delivers a massive problem in that innocent people are being injured and indeed killed as a result of uninsured drivers causing road traffic accidents. Since 2000 there has been light at the end of the tunnel in combating this problem by the introduction of high tech interventions and much better open communication between the police and the insurance community.

The development of the MIB (Motor Insurance Bureau) Database forges and dynamic link with the latest ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) mobile devices that many police forces are using to locate uninsured drivers and their vehicles. So far over sixty thousand uninsured drivers have been caught using this system and it is expected to deliver even higher results as more areas take on the use of the system.

It is also likely that the MID Database will become a statutory practice rather than just an information system as it currently stands. Uninsured drivers ruin lives and leave many people in financial quandaries or even widowed and orphaned as a result of them driving vehicle that have no legal right to be on the roads.

Without adequate motor insurance policies in place these individuals should not be given second chances, and it is common practice now for cars to be confiscated and destroyed. Legitimate mistakes can be accepted by most insurers but the activities of the blatant criminal fraternity should never be given an inch.
