Top UK personal lines broker Insure and Go are launching a new and unique service to combat fraud following theft from travellersholidaying or trekking abroad.

The new travel card system is effectively a simple card that is issued to travellers prior to their journey. The card is not directly linked to a bank account so in the event of theft the card cannot cause unlimited distress as often occurs with bank card theft.

The travel card is effectively a top up card that can be remunerated over the telephone which makes it totally controllable and limited. The main advantage from the travel insurance perspective is that in the event of the insured traveller suffering a theft the claim can be assessed and if agreed the card can be credited with the appropriate settlement. In effect the travel card can offer literal immediate cover and payback security for those travelling anywhere in the world.

The card will initially be available to customers for a price of three pounds fifty and insiders believe the scheme will be very successful which will definitely lead to other companies copying the scheme in the near future.
