cheap car insurance for learner drivers 0800 977 5010

The cost of learning to drive can run into hundreds of pounds so its important to try and cut down on other expenses where possible such as car insurance premiums and thats where Talk Once comes in, we can help you find the best rates from over 25 top insurance companies offering discounted motor insurance premiums

Provisional and Learner Drivers

One of the most important steps in an adults life is the ability to learn how to drive, it offers an enlightening step to independence and a sense of freedom that changes lives forever.

Learner and provisional drivers undertake a journey that will change their live forever and that journey for many starts at the early of seventeen when it becomes legal for a person to start driving on the public roads of Britain. There is an exception to this rule and that is if you are on a higher rate of disability allowance you can apply for your provisional licence at the age of sixteen.

To begin the quest of becoming a motorist provisional and learner drivers have to apply for their provisional licence from the DVLA, once this is issued they are then legally entitled to drive a car on the public roads as long as they display adequate L plates on the vehicle and are accompanied by a full licence holder with a minimum age of twenty one.

Taking those early steps requires provisional and learner drivers to undertake not only a unique journey of experience but a new undertaking of duty of care, not only to themselves but everyone around them. This duty of care is an extremely important step that must be instilled as a natural reaction, driving a machine that can weigh over a ton essentially puts a deadly weapon at their disposal and appreciating this has to become second nature.

The learning experience can take as little as a few Months to complete or for some unfortunate individuals it can take literally years. Which ever side of the fence you fall we can all agree that this stage of human development is an exciting and enlightening part of life, what ever age you are when decide to start the provisional and learner drivers path you will certainly never forget it.

In modern times the new driver has to undertake a structured and comprehensive path of education on both practical and theory levels whereas in the past it was strictly restricted to a practical test. This was then revised to include a rather crude questions and answers session by the examiner in the car after the practical examination was completed. As the population of motorists in the UK has exploded so has the requirement to accommodate stricter learning and awareness of that duty of care we mentioned earlier.
