Identity Fraud

As the problem of identity fraud continues to increase more pressure is being applied for companies to combat the ever growing problem. This includes requests for insurance companies to offer protection in the way of insurance against such activities.

It is estimated that around one hundred thousand UK residents are affected by this identity fraud ever year at a cost of around 1.3 billion pounds. Believe it or not with identity fraud it is not actually a crime under UK law to steal someone’s identity but it is an offence to use that information to fraudulently obtain goods or services.

With fraudsters able to get information from a variety of means it is very difficult to stay completely protected from identity fraud particularly with many of us having details stored on electronic formats online and on databases.

Many insurance companies are now offering identity fraud cover for relatively small premiums with respectable cover for items such as:
Expenses incurred, legal fee cover and cover for costs incurred in clearing up these issues.
