Whilst the car insurance price comparison market is hotting up and becoming more competitive with the likes of Moneysupermarket, uSwitch and GoCompare getting in on the action you can’t take away the glory of being first and that glory has to fall at the feet of Confused.com.

Confused.com have been around for a number of years now and whilst they were created by the Admiral Insurance Group they make the point of not being an insurance broker but a one stop shop solution that compares the whole market for its insurance consumers. Confused.com whilst being internet based is physically located in the Welsh home town of Admiral insurance, Cardiff and is a trading name along with Insop.com part of EUI Limited.

Confused.com were the originators of the online price comparison market place that first allowed the general public to visit a website in order to complete a single interactive insurance quotation question set to retrieve a list of comparison insurance quotes from a large panel of associate insurance brokers. Ironically there is now speculation within the insurance industry that the idea and mentality of insurance aggregators is wrong and detrimental to the whole market.

When once the consumer had to rely on calling a broker to get an insurance price comparison they can now go online and see the market rates at a glance. This is deemed detrimental because all the insurance brokers are now competing to get their cheapest rates presented and they are literally cutting their rates to the bone to win business.

The irony here is that the Chief Exec of Admiral Insurance is the first to announce this glaring problem yet who started the revolution with confused.com!
