Tougher Tests for Younger Drivers

At the car insurance news desk we are reviewing the important issue of reducing young driver accidents and deaths on the British roads. The Association of British Insurers (ABI) is accelerating the pressure on the Government to reform the way in which new young drivers are introduced to driving on the public highways.

It wants to see a more structured approach being adopted whereby a minimum twelve month driving course is undertaken and accordingly logged to record experience. The changes are called for in a bid to cut the amount of deaths that are recorded on the roads every year.

Young motorists particularly between the age of seventeen to twenty are more likely to have life threatening accidents according to car insurance companies like Norwich Union. The ABI does however admit that such reform does hold a likely hood of an increased number of uninsured young drivers hitting the roads however the overriding factor has to be addressing the number of young deaths.
