Safety Advice from Esure Car Insurance

12. 05. 2008 posted in: Car Insurance News 2008

Top UK underwriters Esure have reminded motorists of the dangers of OSAHS

In an article published in the Daily Express Esure car insurance are reminding motorists of the danger of falling a sleep at the wheel and also from NHS statistics that one in every hundred people suffer from Obstructive Sleep Apnoea Hypopnoea (OSAHS).

Those who suffer from the disorder experience disturbed and irregular sleep patterns caused by breathing disorders. Many sufferers then experience extreme tiredness during the day.

For motorists suffering with this disorder the consequences can obviously be dangerous at the least and life threatening at worst, not only for them but other drivers and pedestrians.

Providing the results of this revealing survey Esure car insurance claim that eight percent of motorists surveyed admitted to falling a sleep at the wheel and over 25 percent admitted to having completed car journeys with only partial recollection of the trip they had made, which indicates they have taken what are known as micro sleeps en route.

All car drivers should take extra care when driving their motor car when they feel tired and should seriously consider not making the journey at all.

If you are suffering from extreme tiredness particularly during the day time then you should seriously take time to visit your doctor.
