Despite relatively low increases on motor insurance premiums over the past twelve months the numbers of motorists driving without insurance is on the increase according to recent publications from MoneyExpert.com
This fuels even further support to the fact that the credit crunch is starting to drive home. With rising costs of motoring such as the extortionate rise in fuel costs the problem is sure to get even worse.
People appear to be taking the view, you need fuel to drive the car, you need tax if the car is registered to you, so the easiest way to save money on motoring costs is to forget the car insurance part.
According to the Motor Insurers Bureau (MIB) the financial knock on effect to other honest motorists is on average another £30 each in unnecessary increases on the car insurance bill. The more serious element occurs when these people are involved in road traffic accidents where the financial outcome can be far more extensive and damaging to both the innocent and guilty parties who get involved.
Oversights (nearly 50%) are being voiced as the most common reason for not getting car insurance but to most of us with logic this is just the most obvious excuse that can be used that is likely to get them off the hook.
With claims in excess of half a billion pounds as a result of this situation the need to tighten the net on this element of car insurance crime is becoming ever more important
